The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighbourhood. (John 1:14, The Message). Jesus lived and moved among those he came to serve.
In a similar way, churches today are seeking new ways to bring healing and transformation to the lives of people isolated by their spiritual, relational and economic poverty.
Diaconal Ministries Canada offers the following resources to diaconates, churches and community organizations involved in, or seeking to discover opportunities for, ministry in their neighbourhood and local community.
- A Community Opportunity Scan, will help a church discern how God is calling its people to use its gifts to touch the lives of people in the community.
- Operation Manna provides development services and funding to support the growth of new community ministries across Canada. If you are a current Operation Manna partner organization, you can download a Renewal Application Form.
- DMC staff are available to facilitate workshops that explore how and why a church can reach out to its community.
