Advocacy
Advocacy is about creating awareness of injustice and speaking out for justice. It involves helping an individual or group of people gain access to, or opportunities within, already existing parts of society (employment, assistance programs, education, etc). Advocacy is also about calling for more fundamental changes in parts of society to ensure that society is structured in such a way that individuals and communities can justly live out their God-given calling.
Government has a particular public justice role in society to ensure equity and fairness for all, through the enactment of laws, regulations, policies and programs. However, in all kinds of settings in society, citizens can seek justice through advocacy.
Advocacy methods could include phone calls, meetings, letters, emails, petitions, protests, creating publicity and knowledge, telling the public -- but all with a goal of asking or calling for a change or response which will facilitate justice.
