Refugee ministry is an outreach opportunity for deacons and congregations. This ministry provides assistance to people who have been forced to flee their home countries and seek refuge in Canada.

Diaconal Ministries Canada partners with CRWRC's Refugee Sponsorship Program. As a result of this collaboration, deacons and congregations become more aware of refugee issues and take up involvement in sponsorship. DMC and CRWRC are concerned about the impact of transportation loans which refugees are required to pay to the Canadian Government, as shared in the September 2008 issue of Partners.  Read about the resolution passed by the Canadian Council of Refugees to request the government to pay these costs for refugees, and the Loans Transporation Backgrounder, and consider addressing this matter with your Member of Parliament.
